The word is derived from two ancient sources. In Latin, the word was mysterium… and in Greek, it was musterion.
Both words, in this their native context, mean “secret rite or doctrine.”
An individual then who followed such a “Mystery” was then called a “mystes” (or a mystic). Mystes came to mean ”one who has been initiated (from myeinwhich meant, “to close, shut”). This word carried a special reference to the demand for secrecy (closure of “the eyes and mouth”) of this ancient knowledge.
The mystics held great power and influence during these times and their mission was to keep it in the right hands and lineage. In this way, they maintained the control of power (which is why it was called “The Secret”).
Some of the earliest human legible records known come from the Pyramid Texts of Egypt (c. 3000 B.C.E.). In these sacred texts there are many prayers that are quoted from an even a far more ancient period than the original texts found in Egypt. It is believed that these ancient “special prayers” were used by the Magi as magical formulas and “incantations” during the time to help “manifest” from higher dimensions that which was needed in the material world.
The mysterious first initiator into these sacred doctrines was known as Toth (later to the Greeks by his more familiar name of Hermes). Toth was believed to be the originator of the EMERALD TABLETS that you see depicted in the popular DVD called The Secret by Rhonda Brynes.
During ancient times, the “mystics” taught a highly select group of “initiates” about the origins of the Universe, how it was formed and how it worked. They studied astrology, numerology, the nature of consciousness and other great “sciences” of the time. They gained ”sacred knowledge” about the inner workings of the Universe and the hidden information that would allow them to better understand our true nature and learn to use their consciousness to create “miracles”. This knowledge allowed them to manipulate time/space, predict a time where the conditions would be maximized to allow past events to be “forthcoming” (from the higher dimensions) again as a predictive pattern wave.
The mystics understood the basic Hermes Law outlined in the EMERALD TABLET (seen above) that said “As Above, So Below“. They understood that the world below is a perfect reflection of the unseen world above. In a universe with infinite possibilities, our thoughts and words shape light into formation to deliver exactly what we ask for. (Ask and it is Given)
Several of the great initiates of the Mystery Schools of Giza, includedMoses, Pythagoras, Euclid, Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Herodotus, Solon, Pliny, Heraclitus, Plotinus, Hypocrates and MASTER Jesus, ”The Annointed” One (Christ).
Collectively, these great teachers introduced our world to the powerful concepts of mathematics, geometry, logic, architecture, music, literature, art, philosophy, astronomy, astrology, medicine, law, ethics, morals, survey, physics, mind over matter and government to touch on just a few. All of these learnings were the result of their own INWARD JOURNEY to MASTER THEMSELVES in the material world as mere reflections of their SPIRITUAL selves in the realms beyond our understanding.
This is what The Christ and Albert Einstein taught us. Christ, by example and Einstein by formula e=mc2.
They both showed and taught us that EVERYTHING IS LIGHT and HIGHLY CHARGED PARTICLES OF SOURCE ENERGY. Light is energy that can be shaped and formed by the combination of personal and mass consciousness, personal and mass beliefs and the powerful faith to move matter in and out of form (water into wine). Water can become gas (vapor), liquid (water), or solid (ice) based on the exterior environment that manages its behavior.
Master Jesus’ message to us all was that must all AWAKEN and ARISE to the fact that we ARE the manifestation of the eternal. We can RESURRECT ourselves beyond this physical body by ASCENDING our hearts (Love and Truth) over our minds (Fear and Illusion).
We will explore several ancient Mysteries here on this site in the coming months.
One of my favorites is the study of both Numerology (a 3,000 + year old “science” of the hidden meaning of words as decoded from the nine numbers of the Universe).
Testimonies to numerology are found in the most ancient civilizations and show that numerology actually pre-dates astrology. This discipline considers the name, the surname, and the date of birth, and ascribes a meaning to alphabetic letters according to the numbers which symbolise them.
The image pictured to the right depicts scribbling of symbols on a an ancient turtle shell believed to be one of the very first writings know to man…it is naturally, Numerological!
The premise of Numerology is that numbers each carry “Energetic Divine Meanings”. These powerful packets of the orginal Source’s energy in the function of Creation, were later converted into representative “symbols” by the Hebrew from whose symbols later became the formation of letters for our own alphabet (Aleph – Beit…the words representing the Hebrew numbers 1 and2).
The Greek philosopher Pythagoras (c. 580– c. 500 B.C.E.) learned the secret doctrine of numbers, the heliocentric system of the universe, music, astrology, astronomy, mathematics, and geometry from the powerful Egyptian Magi. Before he established his own school of philosophy in southern Italy, Pythagoras spent 22 years in the temples of Egypt as an initiate in the ancient mysteries. Pythagoras said that:
“Evolution is the law of life;
Number is the law of the Universe;
Unity is the law of God.”
A great 18th Century contemporary of Pythagoras, and modern day ”revivor” of this ancient art, Juno Jordan said that:
“Your name is an autobiography of your life and your experiences, past or yet to be”.
We will explore these teachings and the messages that each number carries to share with us our own “Divine Spiritual Quest”, our Life Path/Script, Destiny, Soul’s Urge, Challenges, and the Karmic Lessons hidden as “secrets” in our own names.
